One hundred and twenty-eight years ago, on a golden morning in Kawit, Cavite, General Emilio Aguinaldo raised a flag hand-sewn by Marcela Agoncillo — and let it catch the wind. In that single, trembling, magnificent moment, a nation looked up at its own colors and said: we are free.

Their blood runs in the same soil where our sampaloc trees grow, where our children play, where our elders rest. Every square inch of this archipelago is sacred — paid for by love that was greater than fear.
